Probably the same reason a human can't lift an elephant with their arms. The brain exerts only so much power. We aren't Marvel heroes...at least not yet.

Perhaps something lighter like a nice light small puddle of water. No problem then.

Actually, as shown in the three videos I posted above, tables as well as spoons work just fine.

No attractive force between the hands and the table. Just the demonstrable psychokinetic force of the group members moving and lifting the table. Nobody so far has been able to measure it.
