The incremental shrinking of the US Navy over the years -- now to the point where it can no longer patrol and protect shipping lanes on a large scale -- is what some consider the upfront testament of the US shift away from globalism. If one goes by Peter Zeihan's claims, both Biden and Trump are the most anti-globalist presidents the country has ever had (though there was that gradual elevation of that attitude occurring before them).
What's fascinating is how kosher all this stuff is suddenly becoming via Trump's second term. The progressive billionaires even signing on now due to Trump's 2nd term illustrating that the first wasn't a fluke or anomaly. Even Biden hung on to things like Chinese tariffs after Trump's first term.
Of course, the entertainment industry will have no part of this overall transition. Most of those celebrities will continue to be a solid preacher base for the ex-establishment. One would expect the same with respect to campuses -- but with those becoming heavily laden with a business mentality and already incurring DEI erosion via reaction to the pro-Palestinian protests, maybe that is even collapsing with respect to student activism (albeit never the devotion from humanities academics themselves, much as Hollywood).
Yet, the specter of inflation skyrocketing as a consequence of this and that looms on the horizon. If the administration fails to perform a magic act for avoiding that, then the New Illumination will probably be short-lived. Regardless, though, the once friction-free world of international trade will advance to life-support status as piracy is reborn and no sufficient-in-quantity "world policeman" available anymore to deter it.
