Rob Reiner checks himself Into a 'facility' over Trump election
https://thatparkplace.com/rob-reiner-che...-election/

EXCERPTS: Actor/director Rob Reiner checked himself into a facility today after a series of increasingly alarming Blue Sky posts in the wake of Donald Trump’s election win. [...] “All the abuse and hate from Twitter has now spewed over to here,” Reiner opined. “There seems to be no point anymore.”

On November 20, Rob Reiner unleashed a series of posts on the platform that continued late into the night, ultimately culminating in his arrival at a facility for his mental health.

[...] At 10:57 pm, Reiner continued to rail against BlueSky after receiving pushback on his earlier posts. Apparently, when you spend your evening screaming about how evil half the country is, eventually they bite back. “This platform is vile, racist, and evil,” he claimed. “It did not take long for MAGA scum to come spread their lies.”

Seemingly disillusioned over the fact that BlueSky was not the echo chamber he sought, Reiner’s evening tantrum turned toward defending comedian and talk show host Ellen Degeneres, who recently followed through on a pre-election promise, leaving the country over Trump’s election... I'm not going to let this slimy little worm of a man drive me to expatriate or do anything else extreme. I found from the first term that I can live my life on completely different TV channels from the ones talking about Trump. Politics will be as unimportant to me as the stock exchange is. This will be very good for me.

I don't think anyone needs to hide away, if anything I wouldn't be surprised if the number of people looking for a "Safe place" to escape Trumps reign is high enough to have a network. Call it an underground "Railroad" if you will. Maybe it will be like Prohibition, people will start up "Speak Easies" in the absence of Trump rhetoric, It could be quite fashionable considering the number of comedians, musicians and actors that didn't like the idea of Trump in the first place.

It can be said that during great times of depression it can inspire others to greater things to overcome the obstacles that are put in their way and endeveour to make the world a better place... perhaps such places of thought could bring about something brighter in the future.

The problem with "safe spaces" is that those networks that already exist are hemorrhaging viewers.
Even Reiner is crying about the left's safe space of BlueSky.

I wouldn't know anything about viewers and BlueSky, I've come to terms over the years that most of social media just leads to fashion victims.

I never really bought into social networks backed by corporate monopolies. From their view point it's only a social network when it makes them a profit.

Oh, so you're imagined safe space is one where people spend money to create something they never see any return from. Not only that, but to keep it a safe space, you also need a team of moderators to police speech, who are also just going to work out of the kindness of their hearts.

Ah, the utopian fascist-commie dream. Everyone works without pay, supposedly just because they like censoring others so damn much.

Sounds like deflection to me. So you think your imagined "safe space" can be profitable?

Before Stryder responds.. I regard some spaces (this one) on the Internet as having a value beyond any price.
Just seemed like a good moment to mention it.

There's a reason why "safe space" is in scare quotes. That's because a "safe space" specifically denotes spaces that are safe FOR leftist ideology FROM criticism... or even just inconvenient facts... primarily utilizing censorship.

Otherwise, there's no need to distinguish it from free speech, which is what we generally enjoy here (thanks, Styder!).
