Israel-Gaza War (and Iranian Distractions)

The Israelis seem to be maintaining pretty strict operational security about the exact details of their operations in Gaza. What is known is that the advance down the Mediterranean beach is now about two miles in. The Israelis appear to be moving slowly here in hopes of keeping their casualties to a minimum.

The most dramatic ground development is that Israelis have penetrated about a mile and a half deep to the south of downtown Gaza city and appear to have cut one of the two main roads connecting Gaza city and the rest of the Gaza strip to the south. The Gaza strip isn't cut in two yet, but that might be what the Israelis have in mind.

Israeli forces in Gaza have announced that they have discovered the head of Shani Louk, the girl from the music festival whose body was photographed sprawled in the back of a pickup, with a bloody wound on the side of her head. It appears that she had been decapitated and her body paraded around Gaza. I'm guessing that she was already dead and the wound on her head was a bullet wound.

There's talk (unsubstantiated as yet) that the Israelis are pumping bright purple smoke into the Hamas tunnels, then bombing the crap out of wherever they see purple smoke emerging.

More very unsubstantiated talk that American drones are almost continually above the Gaza strip, apparently flying intelligence gathering missions. I'm a little skeptical about this since Israel has many drones of their own (they are a major drone manufacturer) and presumably don't need US help in that department.

Tragic news about Shani but i think what most would have expected after watching the video.

great idea with the purple smoke

my guess is USA might have 2 maybe 3 drones flying very high above to keep an eye on gaza & lebanon & the jordanian border & possibly one over the coast watching the egypt border.

The Pallywood narrative is usa drones filling the skys complicit with war crimes.

when i saw the video of Shani and watching the people cheering & spitting on her i lost all compassion for Palestinians.

Israel defense officials say that approximately 20,000 Israeli troops are engaged in the Gaza operation, an armored division and an infantry division.

It appears that the thrust advancing slowly down the Mediterranean beach has entered the northern outskirts of Gaza city. The southern attack has cut one of the two main roads leading south from Gaza city and appears to be thrusting to cut the Gaza strip in two. I would expect that to happen in a matter of hours. By all accounts Hamas is resisting fiercely.

Here's War_Mapper's version:

Hamas have had 10 years to indoctrinate thousands of young boys(& girls) into jihadists

i wonder how many suicide bombers are hiding amongst the population

Fighting continues to be intense in the northern Gaza strip.

Egypt is moving military forces up to its border with Gaza, to be ready in case if Israeli pressure pushes Hamas out of Gaza into Sinai. And the Egyptian army is setting up field hospitals near the Gaza border to treat severely wounded from Gaza. (I don't know how or if the Egyptians will separate wounded civilians from wounded Hamas fighters.)

Aid trucks are moving from Egypt to Gaza, but the border is still closed to all other traffic. Reportedly the Egyptians are searching the trucks to ensure that they aren't smuggling weapons, but I don't know how carefully they are doing it.

The Houthis in Yemen are sending Iranian made long range drones up the Red Sea to attack Israel's southern outpost at Eilat. But it appears they aren't that accurate and there's video of an Israeli interceptor missile intercepting one over the adjoining Egyptian town of Taba. Jordan reports that another Houthi drone struck in their territory but didn't cause any damage.

Gaza is again without communications. It has nothing to do with Starlink, but rather with 'PalTel's' (Palestinian phone company's) hard-line links with the outside world. These were cut by the Israelis, then reconnected, perhaps at the bidding of Biden. But they are reportedly cut again.

The Israeli Defense Force says that 317 Israeli soldiers have been killed so far, since the start of hostilities on October 7.

The large crater (conspicuously missing at the supposedly-bombed hospital) suggests to me that this bomb was a so-called "bunker buster", a penetration warhead designed to penetrate into the ground and then explode. From the photos and videos of earlier Israeli attacks, large geysers of dirt were visible when bombs struck which suggests explosions underground throwing debris upwards. These kind of bombs are used to collapse hardened concrete bunkers (and tunnels).

The Israelis say that this particular blast succeeded in killing the high ranking Hamas officer who commanded the October 7 attack on southern Israel.

Iranian-backed Hezbollah in Lebanon has issued this bizarre, medieval and apocalyptic exhortation to the Hamas fighters in Gaza:

"From the Hands that never knew Weaknesses or Disgrace, and Hearts filled with Deep Belief in God and comfort in His Promise for the Land of Patience and Glory, to the Land of the dear Prophet Muhammad, to the Qibla of the Free and Believers, to the People of Al-Aqsa Flood in Gaza.

This is only a Fraction of our Might to have been Witnessed beyond the Borders, and to Fight for Al-Aqsa we have carried the Weapons.

We await Victory, and the Dawn of the Morning is soon.

Oh dear Oppressed People of Gaza, the Murder of your Children, Women, Youth, and Elderly is something which is so Great. But your Spirit for Patience is much Greater.

Your Blood will drown this Old and Weak Temple of Israel which is on its Final Breath.

Strike them above the Necks, and Strike them any way you can.

Be certain that your Martyrs and our Martyrs are the Path to Jerusalem, until the Day of the Total Conquest.”
