To be honest, I wasn't even aware that the social justice issue is primarily what scholars were concerned about when it came to ET visitors. But OTOH, similar to the Church being preoccupied with sin and salvation, what else would Western academia be obsessed with these days?

I think the critically important thing to prepare for in anticipation of aliens arriving here is how to communicate with them – to ask them where they came from, why are they visiting us, what they want from us,

If there’s a language involved then I think we won’t know theirs but maybe a good chance they know ours. They’ll call the shots, not us.
