Paris is So Beautiful This Time of Year!

Riots have been convulsing France for days. It isn't just Paris, but other French cities and towns too. The turmoil started in response to a move to raise the retirement age by two years, but now seem to be more general and unfocused anti-government riots. Part of the popular anger is due to how Macron enacted his retirement law changes, simply by decree without the required vote of Parliament. This is being denounced by the crowds as illegitimate and authoritarian.

This next one is big if it's accurate - it shows some rather bad-ass looking riot police supposedly going over and joining the anti-Macron protesters with the crowd applauding them.

Riots are back in France, bigger and better than ever. They really exploded today October 17. It's starting to look almost like a revolution, a volitile red-green combination of communist and muslim youth. Massive looting in Paris and street fighting with the police. (Who predictably are being accused of "brutality".) The police appear overmatched at this point. (But don't expect Macron to take stronger action.)

The crowds of kids all dressed in black with hoodies are out again. Much of the looting seems to be by them. And there are indications that they are receiving assistance from the same multinational 'NGOs' that were implicated in organizing Portland, LA and Minneapolis riots.

Predictably, the BBC World Service asked their French correspondent if there was any sign of "far-right" violence, and the correspondent said 'none'. It's all the far-left.

I'm inclined to think that this might work in Marine LePen's and the RN's favor in the upcoming Presidential elections. French voters will be angry and they might be much more inclined to favor somebody who isn't afraid to do what needs to be done.

This is the city hall in Limoges, an historical landmark. Burned to the ground.

AFP is reporting that the Prime Minister chaired an "interministerial crisis cell" this evening, at the Ministry of the Interior, place Beauvau.

Jean-Luc Mélenchon accused the Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu of "provoking a regime crisis" and of having triggered an "unprecedented mobilization" with his "savage repression orders". Mélenchon is a Presidential candidate in the next election and leader of the far-left quasi-communist party that's widely believed to have initially organized the nationwide student demonstrations that led to all this.

In October 2023, Elon warned, "If current trends continue, civil war in Europe is inevitable.” And he was crucified for saying it, with the Eurocrats demanding that X be censored in Europe to prevent anyone from saying such horrible things ever again.

Well, today's events may very well be the early signs of his prophecy coming true.

Today the city halls in Marseille and Lille were taken over by rioters. The historic one in Limoges was burned to the ground. Multiple police stations were overrun. Firemen came under attack. And a mob of rioters tried to seize the Elysee Palace in Paris, the French Presidential residence. They were stopped by the police a short distance away.

And where was President Macron today, while all this was happening, while his residence was under attack and while his Prime Minister was convening a crisis cabinet meeting? He and his wife were attending a Celine Dion concert!

And the riots spread today to Brussels Belgium, capital of the EU. Official Belgian statistics confirm that 89% of all kids under 18 in the Brussels capital region are foreign born or have at least one foreign born parent.

The photos below are from Brussels
