springfield M1A is what you should be pig hunting with
has more stopping power than the AR14/15
no matter where you hit the pig its going to knock it to the ground
other option would be 12 gauge solid rounds

The AR-15 is superior to the M1A for the same reasons the US military retired the M14 in favor of the M16.
And if you have any problem with the AR-15 being the civilian version of a military weapon, the same holds for the M1A.
Most shotguns do not have the fire rate the take on multiple targets at once.

Any follow-up shots will be made on moving targets, and that’s when the speed of the AR platform comes into play....An AR-10—or any .308 AR patterned rifle—may be better for areas with really big hogs.

I'm guessing pigs "in every direction" aren't akshully any kind of threat - you just need rapid fire to kill a lot of pigs.
