Russian Ukraine Invasion

The Russians sure don't know how to pick up after themselves. Look at all the ... cool stuff ... they left scattered everywhere around Izium.

Where are those cheerful Ukrainian farmers with their tractors when we need them?

It's ironic, but Russia has become the biggest supplier of military equipment to Ukraine! Much of it similar modernized late-Soviet models that Ukraine also uses so the new vehicles will fit right in, with crews and mechanics and spare parts all ready for them.

(Photos and IDs of makes and models from the Ukraine Weapons Tracker twitter site)

Relatively new T72B3 tank made in 2016 (From the graffiti, looks like Ukrainian soldiers from Kraken were there and tagged it)

A relic. An old 1960's vintage T-62 tank that the Russians probably pulled out of storage and was perhaps provided to the separatists or used by reserve units.

A rarity. A BMO-T armored personnel carrier/incendiary launcher atop a T72 tank chassis. Only 24 of these were ever built and Ukraine has captured/destroyed 3.

And one of the ubiquitous BMP infantry fighting vehicles. Ukraine appears to have acquired more than 100 of these! (The fields and sky in the background illustrate where the inspiration for the Ukrainian flag came from.)

The Ukrainan Defense Ministry says that their count so far is that the Russians lost 86 tanks, 158 infantry fighting vehicles (largely the BMPs), 106 artillery pieces (self-propelled and towed) and 159 other vehicles (mostly trucks). That's a total of 509, either destroyed or abandoned! Many countries don't have that in their entire armies. Talk is that more than half of this stuff was recovered intact, in usable condition.

Reports coming in that a car collided with Zelensky's car in the presidential motorcade. Apparently Zelensky was examined by doctors but isn't seriously hurt. Other driver was more seriously injured and taken away in an ambulance. Police are investigating. Unclear if it was an accident or an attempt on his life.

Now that assassination is the only option left for saving face, there will be a super-renewed effort at that, whether this was the first example or not. Vlad has to be turning over in his coffin that Zelensky has acquired legendary status. He set out to expand the kingdom of the dead and created a nation of Van Helsings instead, eclipsing his own midnight glory.

Ukrainian SU-24 jet flying at extremely low altitude somewhere in Ukraine. (I'm guessing around Kherson, there are reports that the Ukrainian air force has been active there.) Before the war, the Ukrainian air force is believed to have had 12 of these particular jets. Four have been lost in combat according to reports, so eight remain.

The Russians left lots of guns and ammo behind. (It looks like the average Republican's basement here in America!)

That's kind of funny... except for the poor birds on the concrete bridge support at the time.

The Russian air force, one of the largest and best equipped in the world, was largely absent in the recent Ukrainian offensive in Kharkiv. The Ukrainians looked unconcerned about attack from above.

And here they are attacking this thing. Another in the seemingly never-ending succession of Russian screw-ups.
