Not really. It’s always meant finality to me. Kind of like packing a bag. But, yea - disenchanted is the right word.

I can understand why you’d delete your avatar if you’re not planning on ever posting again, but why would you delete an entire thread that others had responded to?

Years ago I was driving with my mother in the car.
She said (I forget why)
"You get pleasure out of givng pleasure"
I'd be about forty-something at the time so you'd think parental wisdom would have been transferred by then.

Not give and take. Something for absolutely no reward except that someone else enjoys it.

As her words seem to ring true I had to ask her why she hadn't said this when I was (for example) 5 not 45. Through the somewhat evasive answer I could only figger that she'd thought I wasn't ready to hear it.
