Why do UAPs rarely make any noise?

A clue to their actual ontological nature? Or of their means of propulsion?

Antigravity and/or Field Propulsion ostensibly require no moving parts, and in both instances, there’s no propulsive rocket or jet engine exhaust—no mass, no air molecules being forcibly pushed aside. Silence is a natural correlation.

SOMETIMES in close up encounters, the experiencer detects a high pitched humming, often barely audible (like a hive of angry bees or a high tension power transformer emit). The shimmering glow often associated with UFOs is from air molecules being zapped by ultra high intensity electrical and electromagnetic fields, as in a plasma glow.

I had 2 UFO sightings in Houston in 1968—one a distant, zig-zagging light source that seemed to be a solid, illuminated object that made 2,000 mph speed jumps and stopped on a dime (the speed calculations gauged by my junior high buddy’s Dad—an electrical engineer, whose family observed the flying machine with me); and an EXTREMELY intense late night/early morning sighting, solo, in the deeply wooded Memorial area of an illuminated disk that culminated in the object diving down at my bedroom window as I gazed up at it (c. 12:40am on a Friday night/Saturday morning). This close up sighting was classic in that there was ZERO NOISE throughout—other than a barely audible hum once up close—and the disk performed Up Close shocking maneuvers: essentially, Disappearing/vanishing at Pt A and Reappearing at Pt B, over and over again. Quantum jumps. Space-time fabric being manipulated—-that’s classic antigravity in action.

When a brilliantly self-illuminated disk does that in your near presence in the dead of night, trust me: you go into shock. At its closest approach, the disk was barely 15 feet away. I blacked out with my eyes wide open.

The intensity of this encounter led me to do 4 decades of research (becoming a certified hypnotherapist along the way), and I published a somewhat encyclopedic non-fiction UFO book in 2014.

One of Oprah’s favorite final questions to her interview subjects is: What do you know for sure?

My answer to Oprah: I hammered out 154,000 words, and I’d say 80–90% of those words are things I know FOR SURE. The short answer, were I lucky enough to be sitting across from Ms. Winfrey, is: the scale with which we (the people or the sheeple?) have been lied to by our government, NASA, military and high-tech aerospace companies would absolutely BLOW YOUR MIND."

Just make up more nonsense to justify the other nonsense. 9_9

I'm not the one who regularly denies the actual criteria for evidence and the actual meaning of the word "compelling." 9_9
But I see you're still trying to share your scatophilia.

"Denialism is not driven by a lack of knowledge but rather by the denialist’s emotional inability to accept reality. This is often linked to defense mechanisms, where ignoring the reality of a situation helps avoid anxiety.

Denialism’s relationship with anxiety is deeply entrenched in the human psyche. When faced with a reality that induces fear or threatens our sense of safety, the mind may deploy denial as a coping mechanism. This strategy helps keep anxiety at bay by rejecting the upsetting truth, shielding us from the discomfort it could cause. In this context, denialism serves as an emotional defense system, providing temporary relief from the stress associated with acknowledging harsh realities."

Classic crank move!  "Anyone who questions my evidence or hypothesis is suffering an anxiety disorder of some kind."

This thread starts with a failure of Ockham's Razor.  Which explanation seems stronger and requires the fewest ad hoc assumptions:

1. UAP are alien craft and are silent because.... antigravity (or other rubber science pulled from the pulpy sci-fi pile)!

2.  UAP are silent because they are visual hallucinations or misperceived atmospheric phenomena which are inherently quiet.

Not MY evidence nor any hypothesis that I'm aware of. Just 80 odd years of thousands of eyewitness reports, videos, radar return recordings, photos as well as physical traces such as burnt vegetation, impressions in soil, burnt skin from microwave radiation, and scars/marks on bodies. And then there's the recent public acknowledgement by the Pentagon as well as their recently released declassified videos/accounts of UAPs..Your kneejerk dismissal of all this as mere hallucinations or atmospheric effects requires a degree of denialism bordering on religious fanaticism.

Actually there's a third option that fits the facts observed of UAPS much better: 3. UAPs are an unidentified anomalous phenomenon that is neither naturally-caused nor man-made and requires ongoing study and detection worldwide by science-trained researchers.

If that were the actual argument being made here, no one would be making up antigravity. That claim goes far beyond just wanting to investigate unidentified sightings.

This is the difference between skeptic morons acting like they just heard about uaps for the first time this morning and all the other people who have been studying the phenomenon for decades now. Proposing hypothesises that explain the observed facts of the phenomenon is part of science. Or haven't you heard?
