After finally listening to it -- if I had a hundred dollars at stake -- I'd go with "good looking".
POTUS and civilians aren't required to salute military personnel, so an earpiece reminding him of that would arguably seem strange. Breaking traditional protocol supposedly didn't become an irregular act on special occasions until Reagan starting doing it (a reflexive urge due to his being a second lieutenant in WWII). But there are old photographs of Franklin Roosevelt potentially making vague gestures.
At any rate, after Reagan the unorthodox salutes became more common. Obama, for instance, can be seen erratically doing it, which simply strengthened the growing public misconception. But the act is just that: A personal coloring outside the lines rather than official dictum.
