Scientists developed an AI tool that rates movies

SUMMARY POINTS: Scientists from the USC Viterbi School of Engineering have developed an artificial intelligence tool capable of reading a movie script and determining how it will be rated. Movie ratings are a big deal, as they will determine who ultimately gets to see the content in theaters, and humans typically do these ratings. The AI looks for specific things, such as drug use, sexual content, and violence in order to form a rating for the flick without even seeing the finished product. (MORE)

Do the robot! Boston Dynamics' droids twist and mash potato while dancing to The Contour's 1962 hit song 'Do You Love Me'

SUMMARY POINTS: The firm shared a video of its robots dancing to The Contours 'Do You Love Me'. Atlas, robot dog Spot and Handle were seen shaking and moving in the video. The routine was choreographed and the robots each had a routine. Robot dog Spot did a similar video in 2019 to Bruno Mars' 'Uptown Funk'. (MORE)

O.M.G.!!

That's not something that you see every day! Crazy, weird and wonderful all at once!

They dance better than I do!!

These robots seem to be the end result of decades of technological evolution. Could they assess their environment and make "decisions" based on gathering sensory data?

Still tools that require programming, but can navigate autonomously and make refined adjustments within the general boundaries they're given and restricted to.

Boston Dynamics’ Spot 2.0 features improved autonomy and mobility: Less than eight months after releasing its quadruped to the world, Boston Dynamics pushed out a software update today packed with new features. Spot 2.0 now features enhanced autonomy, communications, navigation, payload support, and more. The map for Spot 2.0 must still be created manually, but the robot acts more autonomously once it has the details of its work environment. “With Spot 2.0, you can program the robot to go to that point, but it’ll find the shortest path to get there and perform its action.”

Yeah a great routine to watch. And a little scary too. So Hyundai now owns Boston Dynamics

Given BD's evident leading role in military application of robotics, I guess Hyundai had to clear a few national security concerns before that one went through.
