I hope not because this video worries me. I’m all for equality but equity, not so much. Equal opportunity, hell yeah, but a hierarchy of needs, oh, hell, no. Sounds like communism to me. I’d quit my job. Kamala Harris on Twitter
“We will all start out at the same place and arrive at the same place.” But we all could never possibly start out at the same place.
Wouldn’t this quell diversity as opposed to foster it? If the aim of communism is to create a society of mediocrity, where everyone is the same, how can she also want diversity?
Or, does she mean that she wants our culture to be move diversified and then bring everyone to the same living standard? I don't believe she ran on this during her campaign trail with Biden.

She put out that equity video during the campaign. As the Green New Deal exemplifies, equity is packaged with environmental/climate issues. So it's probably acquired faux science status after that shiny, stealth paint-job that the humanities gave it prior to rolling it out to politics. Still, equity is not really new under that disguise... but its teeth have grown enough now to slot somewhere on predatory status spectrum.
The old days: https://www.jstor.org/stable/26326943 EXCERPT: Sustainability has been viewed as a commitment to protection of the environment, responsible economic growth, and promotion of equity—the well-known three "Es." The third "E," however, is not as well understood or promoted as the other two. This article considers what equity means as a dimension of sustainability and examines what local governments are doing to advance social equity. Reviewing the results of a national survey in 2010 made it evident that most cities and counties are doing little related to equity. A followup survey was conducted involving two groups of governments identified in that survey—one group was active in social equity and a second was active in sustainability overall but was doing little related to equity. |
