Here's a feel good story:
The Carolina Hurricanes NHL hockey team was playing the Toronto Maple Leafs in Toronto. When their goalie went down with an injury, then the backup goalie also went down, they were in trouble because they only had two goalies. So... up stepped a 42 year old Scotiabank Arena Zamboni driver named David Ayres who apparently knew how to play the position. Besides being the arena's Zamboni driver, he's a youth hockey coach. (Isn't every Canadian a youth hockey coach?) He says all he was thinking about was not to embarrass himself out there. And he didn't. He stopped eight shots on goal and won the game. The Canadian fans gave him a huge ovation despite his having just beaten their Leafs and here's the reception when he entered the Canes' "dressing room" (Canadian for 'locker room').

Apparently there's only one emergency goalie per game and if the Leafs had needed him first, he would have played for them. He's a Toronto guy who works for the Maple Leafs' Scotiabank arena.
The city of Raleigh NC has just declared 'David Ayres Day' and Ayres will be guest of honor at their arena.
