Ted Cruz takes Alyssa Milano to Bible study — with an NRA edition of the Bible

No, then you just have more incidents of other armed attacks, like the UK's trouble with knife and acid attacks.

It's also just faulty logic. Just because there is only one crime to enforce doesn't mean there are, magically, fewer instances of crime.

He who sacrifices freedom for security deserves neither.

[...] Cruz quoted an obscure text from the Book of Exodus: “If a thief is caught breaking in at night and is struck a fatal blow, the defender is not guilty of bloodshed” (Exodus 22:2). Cruz himself even conceded the next verse says if the same thing happens during daylight, it’s no longer self-defense and the law forbids it. So by Cruz’s own argument, the right to self-defense by gun ends at dawn. After that, it is murder.
I often get a kick out of how some people twist the Bible for their own political ends.  "Jesus wants you to give me money so I can buy another Learjet."  "Jesus doesn't want you to pay taxes."

If we were to create a gestalt of Right Wing Jesus, he'd be a white, wealthy US citizen who, heavily armed, walks the border to keep out all the refugees and other sinners.  And dispenses divine justice with his .45.

Blessed are the full of wallet, for they have earned VIP entrance to the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who gloat, for they shall be raised above the meek.
Blessed are the heavily armed, for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for vengeance, for they shall be satisfied.
Blessed are those who banish the lost and weak, for they shall receive purity.
Blessed are the unforgiving, for they shall see God.
Blessed are the warmakers, for they shall be called the victors of God.
Blessed are those who persecute others for profit's sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

If religion/god is in the OP then lets use it.

What if there was only one divine law, and who knows, maybe that's true? The one law is straight from the Almighty Himself and it states ' Be Good '. God knows that this isn't quite enough so he gives us one right, 'Freedom to Choose'. These are His gifts to us, one law & one right.

About 30 seconds after God presents the gifts, someone commits murder. The Accused in court argues that he had the right to choose but the jury convicts him anyways because he broke the law. IOW, the guilty party's right was not strong enough to circumvent the law. The jury recommends that God's right be amended to read "Freedom to Choose Good" and the change takes place. God says nothing so the slight modification is accepted as being within the law, because apparently it's lawfully good.

So basically that's what it is today. You have a right to freely choose to bear arms but you must use this right wisely in a good way. As I see it, bearing arms is not the God given right, choosing to bear arms is. The law OTOH never changes, its always going to say be good. The (God's)Law is mightier than the Right.

So would it not be better for an official amendment to Divine Law that includes bearing arms? Can they? How? Since its a choice, is it good to change God's law? IMHO, I highly doubt God's going to come thundering out of the clouds to say NO. Be good and bear arms....how easy is that amendment to the law?

The Bible teaches not only a right to life but a duty to protect life, which necessarily includes self-defense. If you think that's a twist, you may be projecting.
