Trump denies Harry tried to avoid him and describes duke as 'terrific': . . . It was reported that the two did not speak to each other after Mr Trump said of the Duchess of Sussex: "I didn't know she was nasty" when asked about her suggesting back in 2016 that she would leave the US if he became leader. Speaking to Piers Morgan for ITV's Good Morning Britain, the US leader has now clarified his remarks about the duchess after it was widely reported that he had called her “nasty”.

During an interview in the Churchill War Rooms, he said: “I said: 'Well, I didn't know she was nasty'. I wasn't referring to she's nasty. I said she was nasty about me. And essentially I didn't know she was nasty about me." He added: "You know what? She's doing a good job, I hope she enjoys her life... I think she's very nice." LA-born Meghan will not be present during the President's state visit after giving birth to her son Archie almost four weeks ago.

Mr Trump added that her husband "couldn't have been nicer" when they met on Monday. He said he congratulated Harry, who recently became a father, calling him a "terrific guy". Asked about rumours that the prince did not want to speak to him, he said: "No, no, no, just the opposite. "In fact, he spent a lot of time talking to Ivanka and talking to my family. I went up - he couldn't have been nicer. Couldn't have been nicer... I think he's great." (MORE)

Donald Trump says NHS 'not part of trade' and he would 'certainly meet Corbyn' as he looks toward Brexit: Donald Trump has said he doesn't see the NHS "being on the table" in any future trade negotiation between the UK and US, following earlier comments in which he said "everything is on the table".

The US president clarified his remarks during an interview with Good Morning Britain's Piers Morgan [...]: "I don't see it being on the table, somebody asked me a question today and I say 'everything's up for negotiation' because everything is, but that's something that I would not consider part of trade."

Earlier in the day Mr Trump [...] revealed he turned down a request for a meeting from the Labour leader. He said: "I don't know Jeremy Corbyn, I've never met him, never spoke to him, but he wanted to meet today or tomorrow and I decided that I would not do that. I think that he is, from where I come from, somewhat of a negative force." [...] In the interview he appeared to back-peddle on his earlier Corbyn criticism, saying he "certainly would" meet the Labour leader in the future... (MORE)

Woman stabs 'Baby Trump' blimp in the back during London protest, gets arrested: A woman stabbed a blimp made in the image of President Donald Trump as a baby with a sharp object that punctured the 20 ft. inflatable during a protest in London, England, as the president was visiting. The attempted assassination of the blimp happened among the protest crowd behind the House of Commons.

[...] she was immediately escorted away by police, according to "babysitters," protesters who volunteered to guide and guard the blimp. "A woman … punctured the mini Trump baby replica with a sharp object," said a spokesman for the Trump Baby group. "It's not surprising that the far right would want to meet freedom of expression with violence," the statement claimed.

The woman was arrested for being in possession of a pointed or bladed article. According to Mashable, the woman exclaimed, "The president of the United States is the best president ever, shame on you!" after stabbing the baby blimp. [...] In scene reminiscent of Shakespeare's Julius Caesar, the woman showed spectators her bloodied hands after the impudent act. She had nicked herself in the process of attacking the blimp.

Trump visit summary & NHS row over earlier trade deal comments: In an eventful news conference alongside the outgoing PM following talks in Downing Street, Mr Trump:

:: Said Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn had asked to meet with him, but he had refused

:: Rejected suggestions the US could impose limits on intelligence sharing if the UK used infrastructure from Chinese firm Huawei

:: Continued his war of words with London mayor Sadiq Khan, describing him as a "negative force"

:: Said Mrs May "deserves a lot of credit" when it comes to Brexit, having "teed up" a deal. He also claimed she is "probably a better negotiator than I am"

:: Dismissed the protests against his visit as "fake news", despite thousands taking to the streets

But it was the president's comments on the health service that provoked the most reaction. Leadership contenders to succeed Mrs May rejected Mr Trump's suggestion that the NHS would be up for discussion.

The current health secretary, Matt Hancock, tweeted: "Dear Mr President. The NHS isn't on the table in trade talks - and never will be. Not on my watch."

Dominic Raab said the NHS "is not for sale" and "never would be if I was prime minister", Sam Gyimah said the health service should not be used as a "bargaining trip" and Rory Stewart declared he would not be "offering up" the NHS in any trade deal.

Mr Corbyn - who earlier addressed demonstrators in London - wrote on Twitter: "Theresa May stood next to @realDonaldTrump as he said the NHS will be 'on the table' in a US trade deal. And that's what Tory leadership contenders and Farage are lining up for the No Deal disaster capitalism plans they have. "They all need to understand: our NHS is not for sale." (MORE)
