EXCERPT: In the state of California, reported incidences of sexual harassment are 5 percent higher for women and 10 percent higher for men than the national average, report the authors of a joint study [...] "California has led the nation's focus on the #MeToo and #TimesUp movement. This report offers a stark look at the widespread prevalence of verbal, physical and cyber-based sexual harassment in the Golden State," said Anita Raj, PhD, professor in the Department of Medicine at UC San Diego School of Medicine and director of GEH.

[...] Specific findings:

More than 86 percent of women in California (compared with 81 percent nationally) and 53 percent of men (compared with 43 percent nationally) report having experienced some form of sexual harassment and/or assault in their lifetime.
Three out of four foreign-born men reported harassment compared to one out of two U.S.-born men living in the state.
Four out of five lesbian and bisexual women have faced sexual assault compared with one in four straight women.
Three out of four gay and bisexual men have faced aggressive sexual harassment (e.g., stalking, unwanted sexual touching) compared with one out of three straight men.

"This report demonstrates that sexual harassment is prevalent and ubiquitous, but at the same time, we also see higher rates on some of our most marginalized residents, such as gay, lesbian and bisexual people and foreign-born men," said Raj.

David S. Lee, director of prevention, CALCASA, said that the study offers yet another confirmation of the desperate need for education about sexual consent. "Prevention efforts, including education in schools as early as possible, around issues of consent and harassment are crucial," said Lee. "We know that prevention works, and it's necessary to shift to a culture where individuals look out for one another."

"... Public spaces, private residences, and even schools are prime locations for experiences of sexual harassment and assault. A recent report showed the costs of sexual violence in California for one year totaled $140 billion. When an alarming 86% of women and 53% of men in California face sexual violations that cause them pain and prompt many to alter their lives in significant ways, we must do more to stop and prevent sexual assault and harassment earlier..."

California may well be that, but I'm not sure if hypocrisy is the explanation for high rates of "sexual harassment" in California.

The trouble is that "sexual harassment" is entirely subjective and entirely in the eye of the beholder. It's like calling somebody an "asshole".

Factor in that all that it takes to establish that "sexual harassment" took place is an allegation that it did.

Add the fact that making an allegation of sexual harassment makes the person making the allegation seem powerful in their own eyes and in the eyes of the community that they identify with and it accomplishes that psychological wonder by claiming victimhood. That power-victim combination is absolute catnip to the cultural-left psyche. (Just look at all the "social justice" militancy. Probably most of contemporary politics consists of groups claiming victimhood in hopes of thereby gaining more power.)

I'd guess that reported "sexual harassment" rates are highest in the trendiest left wing areas and I'd guess that "sexual-harassment" rates probably correlate rather well with the percentage of the vote that Hillary received in the 2016 election. Not necessarily because "sexual harassment" happens more frequently in these places, but because the kind of person who is apt to insist that he/she is a victim of it is more common there.

I don't doubt that for one second, Yaz...at least among leftist white women. But I do think that leftists have a special tendency for hypocrisy. Weinstein and the casting couch among the elite Hollywood leftists, walls when they're around their own homes and neighborhoods, diversity when minority students are going to be integrated with their children's suburban schools, preaching about the environment while jetting around the globe, unabashedly using sexist, racist terms, so long as they're aimed at the right, etc.. The rules they preach never apply to them, just like any elite authoritarian.

There's also the demographics:

Three out of four foreign-born men reported harassment compared to one out of two U.S.-born men living in the state.
Four out of five lesbian and bisexual women have faced sexual assault compared with one in four straight women.
Three out of four gay and bisexual men have faced aggressive sexual harassment (e.g., stalking, unwanted sexual touching) compared with one out of three straight men.

So foreigners account for more fops. And you can't tell me gays, lesbians, and bisexuals are all harassed/assaulted more by straights in California. Do these populations really gain status by impugning their own? Or is there actually a larger problem among these populations?

I'd say the California lifestyle, of partying and dating and getting rich, is more influential in these stats than one's politics. It's this constant ambition of becoming part of the jet set, and of rising to the top careerwise, and of sometimes sacrificing parts of oneself to obtain it. It does not surprise me that sexual assault occurs there more often than in any other state. It's the built in risk of playing the "making it" game.

Except that only leftists in Hollywood seem to complain about what they've done to "make it"...and then hypocritically cry #MeToo. But yes, like anyone with influence, wealth, or power, they get it thrown at them so often they get a sense of entitlement. Those willing to prostitute themselves will often regret their choices.

But none of that seems to explain the higher rates for foreigners, gays, lesbians, and bisexuals...except from other foreigners, gays, lesbians, and bisexuals.

sexist predatory pigs target places where women feel safer
they see women dressing liberal and need to dominate them and make them their slaves to try and own their sexuality.

That still means there's more "sexist predatory pigs" among leftists/"liberals".
