"Session...squirrel" flavor.  Even without meat as an ingredient, without an under-the-porch recliner and TV set, and without an endorsement by Jeff Foxworthy, he'd drink it. He already eats things like apple cores, green beans, sweet taters, chews almonds, raisins, etc. (Nah, I'm not referring to the two-legged one.)

Ingredients: Carrots, apples, green beans, celery, oranges, sweet potatoes, ginger, turmeric, mint, filtered H2O

Was awake around 6:30 am, looked out the back window of our house into the field behind us and saw a very thin coyote carrying a struggling cat in its jaws. Probably explains why I don’t see cats anymore in this area. All the neighbors near here share a communal mailbox and usually somebody has a picture of a lost cat taped to it. So I’m expecting to see this cat’s pic with a phone number attached there, some day this week. If it is then should I call the number and tell the person what I saw?

Don't see how it could hurt unless the owner(s) are sensitive to potential closure in a negative sense. If the bulk of residents there project human-like status on their pets or exhibit delicate sensibilities of a reality-impaired slash overly sheltered nature, then perhaps not worth the risk.

"The coyote (Canis latrans) is widespread across Canada, and is listed as a species of least concern on the IUCN redlist of threatened species."

This would seem to diminish any traumatization arising from the emotional conflict of a revered protected species astonishingly preying on a personally treasured domestic darling.

It would be nice to borrow the coyotes for a bit to see off the neighbourhood cats but I'd want to send them back in case they turned out to be worse than the cats.

I’ve always thought the neighbourhood tabbies would be a tough foe for the coyotes, especially with their sharp claws. Believe me, this cat was putting up quite a fight, wiggling & squirming, even when in the jaws but it just couldn’t reach far enough to at least scratch. I don’t know why the canine hadn’t delivered the fatal blow and was satisfied carrying it off. I would think a coyote has enough power to crush the cat with one bite.

I have heard more than see them, usually at night when they howl or start yipping & yapping. I figure they killed something at those moments. Are they nocturnal? The few times I did see them they were either pouncing on field mice or just passing by. To be honest I have not seen any as skinny as this guy was so maybe hunting hasn’t been that good and Garfield showed up at the right time.

I've never seen a fat coyote. Their tough luck that nomadic tribes from Asia brought their own dogs, leaving no food scraps, smiling spirals, and chances for domestication left over for them. (Though there is the question of that strange Canadian tribe canine).

There are coyotes around here, too. Usually they’re spotted early in the morning by joggers. And a few bobcat sightings have been reported, as well. Makes me wary of running on the nature trails anymore.

Off to enjoy a music festival, weather is perfect so should be a fun time.
