Wow, you're really butt-hurt.

No one derived any pleasure from your misfortunes. On the contrary, it's a very sad story that explains why anyone in that situation would have a skewed perspective on life.

Butt-hurt buddies apparently.

Not sure what misfortunes C2 is claiming anyone's joyous about.

I might be wrong, but your response in the ''Santa'' thread seems to be where it could be coming from. Sometimes, people share stories, not looking for any opinion or response. They just want to share, and be ''heard.'' Your response seemed a bit judgey - which SS was just sharing a personal story, nothing more, nothing less. I'm not sure if this is where it's coming from, but my best guess for now.

No, that’s not it.

Oh, I know. There was this one time at band camp and there was this flute, um…oh, never mind that can’t be it.

On a more serious note…maybe Syne falls somewhere on the spectrum.

Nothing about C2 there, and since when is "a bit judgey" "rejoicing at or derivation of pleasure from"?

I suppose you could make the stretch that learning the context for past behavior could be satisfying, but the suffering in that context, itself, is not. But then SS (and I guess C2) is really keen on demonizing people she disagrees with. She has to assume the worst to bolster her beliefs against any refuting argument that could cause cognitive dissonance.

But no, I don't judge anyone for things that have happened to them, only for how they choose to behave.

I must admit I didn't look up the word before re-posting it. I took my cue from "Behaving in a Syneish fashion" and Syne using the opportunity to take a second stab at the apple. There followed some sort of justification from Syne but no apology.

I'm sure SS's "Behaving in a Syneish fashion" post was with humorous intent - certainly mine was. A point Syne made in his explanation of whatever he was trying to explain was his belief that SS has a skewed perspective on life relative to Syneworld - Syneishly ignoring the possibility that his own perspective on life might be the one skewed by factors unknown and irrelevant to this post.

I'm not the one with the f'd up childhood. Now you could make the case that most people have such messed up childhoods, but that would be an argument for a normalization of a skewed perspective, not a healthy perspective. And according to the actual definition (taking pleasure at someone's pain), there's nothing to apologize for. Again, that assumption would only be demonizing what was actually said. When SS starts trolling in multiple threads, it sure seems like she's butt-hurt, but she does like to dissemble with excuses of humor.

And C2 is too lazy to check the definition and too eager to accept any demonization of others.

Otherwise these people could point to actual things instead of making such broad and vague allusions. Rolleyes
