Catch 22

Animal activists had a field day and one of the groups was of the opinion that the killing of Cecil was justified. Is it a classic Catch 22, advocating the reduction of prey animal deaths by killing the predator?

Predator and prey (of a sort somewhere?) part of the same team now when it comes to the sacred status of "endangered".

Don't know if Cecil's death contributed anything directly to "African Lions Finally Gain Endangered Species Act Protection", but like consternation over a terrorist act stimulating better integration of domestic security agencies, surely didn't hurt the passage.

Zoological hate speech. Immigrants are always a blessing. No distinction between illegals and legals anymore on the Outrage Channel, so don't stick bunnies and toadies with the disparaging label, you wildlife fascists. Wink

I remember this guy, who not only got run from TSF, but was made out to be some kind of raving lunatic. He took a savage beating on that forum. His name was Stijn Bruers, complete with a PHD in Moral Philosophy, whatever that is. This Vegan guru basically said that sentient creatures (with brains) must be allowed to live even if it means killing all the non sentient creatures of the world.

Kind of reminiscent of that 1970s novel The Bridge, where ecological extremism literally went the final step of exterminating people. The irony of such being that minus the survival of sentient species of a particular level of intelligence with interest in themselves and their environment (i.e., lacking indifference), there is no grand distinction and conception of lesser creatures and potential concern over their welfare. Mindless nature at large couldn't care less about any stratum of life or in rendering a cognitive / phenomenal representation of such to begin with from its field of quantum fluctuations -- much less the additional complex abstract moral dramas and invented dilemmas of particular human factions.

THE BRAIN is wider than the sky,
For, put them side by side,
The one the other will include
With ease, and you beside.
