His name is David Casarez, he has a degree from one of the Texas A&M branch campuses, and used to work for General Motors doing some kind of web design thing in Austin. Then he cashed out his 401-K and moved to Silicon Valley in hopes of making a fortune. But he ran out of money and was sleeping in his car, until it got repo'ed. So he ended up sleeping in a park.
In a last-gasp all-or-nothing effort, he put on clean clothes and a tie, planted himself near a freeway ramp and instead of begging for money begged passers-by to take a resume. A woman asked if she could take his picture and put it on social media, and he said fine. She put it on Twitter and it became a thing.
He's been bombarded with job offers, more than 200 at last count, including from Google, Pandora and a bunch of start-ups.
