EXCERPT: Go into any public place in 2017 and you don't need to look hard to see people with heads bowed and eyes glued to a smartphone screen. But did they have iPhones in the 17th century Or what about 1937?

That's the date the mural shown above was installed in the post office of the town of Springfield in Massachusetts, US. Named "Mr. Pynchon and the Settling of Springfield", it was created by an Italian artist named Umberto Romano and depicts the arrival of settlers to the town in the 1620s.

Amongst the scene is a Native American local holding up a small, black rectangular object and looking directly at it. He could almost be snapping a selfie....

Could be a white man's hand mirror. I like the broom riding witch way in the background near the top. Appears as if Mr Pynchon was a workout enthusiast, his legs are like tree trunks totally disproportionate to the rest of his body. As well all the Indians, including the naked squaws have solid builds. How'd they get this way? Well don't you know? It's more evidence of time travel....anabolic steroids.
