Here are two small islands, only about 2.5 miles apart in the Bering Strait. One of the islands is Russian territory, the other is part of the US State of Alaska.
But the weird thing is that the Russian island is more progressive, a day ahead of the American island. When it's today on the American island it's already tomorrow on the Russian island, which is almost 24 hours in the future.
The explanation is that not only the US/Russian border but also the International Date Line runs between the two islands.
