Republicans refused to defend Trump on air

Trump is circuitously still catering to a faction who Semitic-trashed his own son-in-law in some of their dialogue. Forget any teenagers and 20-ish libertarian nerds posing as them online and tweaking SJWs for the fun of it. The world finally gets to see the alt-right in the flesh and it's established all the more that they're no different from the whackos of the old days: Carrying around tiki torches while chanting anti-Jewish slogans and spouting "blacks are vermin" comments.

No miraculous transformation in personality is waiting ahead for Trump. Both parties can henceforth focus on whatever it takes to get him out of office. We know he can opportunistically throw his own "friends" and colleagues under the bus; now it's crystalizing that he might even do that to his own family if he desperately thought it was to his own advantage. He seems to be every negative stereotype and caricature of the nescient yet adeptly demagogic, narcissistic, prevaricating white rich guy ever concocted. Unless it was comedy or satire, a writer couldn't place a character like this in a fictional book, TV-show or play without receiving criticism for such an implausible, unrealistic, incredibly superficial and archaically self-serving persona / trope.

EXCERPT: Fox News host Shepard Smith said Wednesday that his show hadn't been able to find Republicans to defend President Trump's controversial statements about the violent clashes in Charlottesville, Va., over the weekend. "Our booking team — and they're good — reached out to Republicans of all stripes across the country today," he said during Shepard Smith Reporting. "Let's be honest, Republicans don't really mind coming on Fox News Channel. We couldn't get anyone to come and defend him here." [...] Smith has not shied away from criticizing the Trump administration and the president's surrogates. Last month...

EXCERPT: Neo-Nazis carried torches and chanted “Jews will not replace us” as they marched through the University of Virginia campus on Friday. And on Tuesday, Chris Cantwell, a white supremacist leader, told Vice News that he wanted a president who “does not give his daughter to a Jew.”

Trump hallucinated crowds of "nice people" at that White Pride march just like he hallucinated all those muslims who were cheering in the streets on 9/11 or those millions who illegally voted for Hillary. It's back to Trump la la land once again---a parallel reality that only he lives in and that is immune to fact-checking. How many more times will Republicans stand by biting their own tongues? While nobody seems to be defending him, far too few are publically calling him out over this. There are serious doubts now about his moral capacity to serve as president. And that is besides his obvious mental issues.

TWITTER: "The United States condemns the terror attack in Barcelona, Spain, and will do whatever is necessary to help. Be tough & strong, we love you!" — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) August 17, 2017

Doesn't hesitate to call such acts elsewhere terrorism, but when it comes to one of his admirers[*] crashing a car into a crowd:

Mr. Trump said his initial statement was shaped by a lack of information about the events in Charlottesville, even though television statements had been broadcasting images of the violence throughout the morning. “There was no way of making a correct statement that early,” he said. “I had to see the facts, unlike a lot of reporters. I didn’t know David Duke was there. I wanted to see the facts.”

[*] James Alex Fields [...] his mother, Samantha Bloom, [...] said she knew he was attending a rally in Virginia but didn't know it was a white supremacist rally. "I thought it had something to do with Trump. Trump's not a supremacist," said Bloom, who became visibly upset as she learned of the injuries and death.
