EXCERPT: A Google engineer has been fired after writing a memo asserting that biological differences between men and women are responsible for the tech industry's gender gap. "We need to stop assuming that gender gaps imply sexism," James Damore wrote in the manifesto, which was first reported by Vice's Motherboard and later released in full by Gizmodo.
The 10-page document criticises Google initiatives aimed at increasing gender and racial diversity, and argues that Google should focus more on "ideological diversity" to make conservatives more comfortable in the company's work environment. In response, Google CEO Sundar Pichai cut his vacation short and wrote a memo criticising Damore's manifesto for advancing harmful gender stereotypes. "To suggest a group of our colleagues have traits that make them less biologically suited to that work is offensive and not OK," Pichai wrote.
Experts have been quick to cite numerous scientific meta-analyses of differences between the sexes, most of which suggest that men and women are alike in terms of personality and cognitive ability. Here are the specific claims Damore made in his manifesto, and the real science behind them....
it would not surprise me if he was paid to publish that paper.
is it possible for a sociopath with borderline narcissistic personality disorder to make it all the way through university to that level ?
i think it would be possible. is he one ? dont know.(early warning signs of 1st schizophrenia attack
ABSOLUTELY POSSIBLE)
is it possible for a creationist to make it all the way through to that level ? probably however they would probably need to be hiding their opinions in their work to fool people who would otherwise not trust them as they would be effectively living a life of borderline personality disorder and have hidden agendas which would potentially damage the university and those who they worked under and with.
is he an anti-animist ? neo-material-athiest ? possibly
the desire to scientifically over simplify things may be benificial when applying a design to your garden, but when you are splicing someones embryo with a new gene therapy to cure osteoparosis...
no thanks ! the research community cant afford to put that many years of research and millions in funding at risk to someone who is unable to seperate their ideological goal from their main personal driving self-actualisation.
err-go this puts it quite well if you apply it to him & if he would be worth handing critical research & the only money left for research into ... let say breast cancer
Quote:A 2000 review of 10 studies related to gender differences in empathy also suggests men and women don't have innate differences in this area. The researchers found that such distinctions were only present in situations where the subjects were "aware that they are being evaluated on an empathy-relevant dimension" or in which "empathy-relevant gender-role expectations or obligations are made salient."
In other words, differences had to do with how people responded to expectations of them, not any inherent abilities.
i would say "na-ah!" because he is driving himself and his scientific process from a position that is unable to simply work with the facts without putting bias in it.
and... the other word down the line in science for bias is called millions of dead or sick people.
thats just the cold hard financial truth to it.
as for him, he is probably going through some type of regresive childhood issues which have not been addressed profesionally.
unfortunate that it has wasted soo many years of opportunities that could have gone to someone else.
profesionally, ethically & scientifically his memo was his resignation letter or a statement of a mental breakdown in process.
