Which of the two treatments did you either opt for or end up with, Zin? (Nah -- never mind, if it's none of our business. Could also be I even missed you indicating that somewhere back in the thread or my misplaced memories.)

No problem. Opted for 20 sessions radiation over 4 weeks.

Going for simulation and planning this morning. Had to prepare this weekend by taking recommended laxative both nights. They need bowels empty. Bladder needs to be emptied 45 mins before appointment and then within next 15 minutes drink 500ml of water and hold until session is over. I believe they will be marking an X on the places they will aim when the real thing starts next week.

May Hippocrates be ideationally with you during both this anticipatory stage and next week.

Thanks to everyone.. Simulation went well except that the laxative they gave me didn't quite do the job. I got sent to the loo to see if I could work it out....nearly popped a blood vessel but I managed....Whew! They say it puts pressure on the bladder and they don't want that. I have three permanent dots (tattoos) on me now. I believe they use these to hit the target. One on each hip and one just above the privates. The CT scan pinpoints where to aim and where to put the tats. However I've been told to wait two more weeks before I start radiation. At that time I'll get a schedule (20 sessions over 4 weeks).

Two hours from now I receive my first direct beam of radiation. It's a somewhat tense time right now so I'm trying to take it easy. Need to drink 500ml of water 45 minutes before treatment starts. Cleared the bowels and watching the clock.

Maybe easier going early on, if the brunt of the side effects don't start kicking in for two or three weeks into treatment. I guess our "best wishes" should actually apply more to the long haul than the treatment phase itself, if "PSA results often vacillate up and down during the first 3 years after therapy; this does not mean treatment failed". Still, hope the discomforts aren't that bad as they gradually emerge (as well any dietary and other deprivations).
