EXCERPT: A special police unit set up to investigate harassment of MPs has recorded over 50 complaints in its first six months of operation. The Metropolitan police’s parliamentary liaison and investigations team was set up following the murder of Batley and Spen MP Jo Cox last June. Among its investigations so far have been 13 cases of theft, four of criminal damage and 33 of malicious communication such as Twitter trolling. Labour MP Rachael Maskell said the level of intimidation and abuse would particularly put women off standing for Parliament....

A 2016 report by the Equality and Human Rights Commission revealed widespread inequality in employment and safety in a divided Britain. "In Britain, significantly lower percentages of ethnic minorities (8.8%) worked as managers, directors and senior officials, compared with White people (10.7%). This was particularly true for African/Caribbean/Black people (5.7%) and those of Mixed ethnicity (7.2%)," the report stated.
Additionally, "Black people who leave school with A-levels typically get paid 14.3% less than their White peers," researchers found.
