The Time Machine (duo instrumental cover)
https://youtu.be/PbkUkucTmvg The original is here (2021): https://youtu.be/u-_DLK4a1ro June 16, 2022 - Thomas Swijsen & Wiki Violin: "The Time Machine" (Iron Maiden) (Jun 20, 2022 04:49 AM)Leigha Wrote:Took a few seconds to figure that artist was imo paying homage to Alanis Morissette - or more brutally - just shameless copycatism (my copyrighted word!). Randomly chosen example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jne9t8sHpUc But then one has to remember the musical scene has surely explored every niche imaginable over the decades. So it's virtually impossible to not be aping some contemporary or previous artist's style. Intentionally or not. "My biggest artistic influences have been from....".
Scott Walker ne Noel Scott Engel - imo the finest pop/ballad singer of all time. Some assorted tracks (I include 2 from other artists arguably on a par with Scott):

I don't want to hear it anymore. 1964 (arguably more expressive/soulfull than Scott) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OaIV_KJ59ZM I Don't Want To Hear It Anymore https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q11-iHumly0 (Baby) You Don't Have To Tell Me https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P-CXkhik9iI Living Above Your Head https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yNJqCgPOx4g You're all around Me (original stereo LP - HQ) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A5xDISc8eNw Looking for Me ('stereofyed' version with harmonies that detract) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJzb-PpRK78 Looking for Me ('only' mono but mostly just Scott's unique voice) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MW6eS3xwBWI After the lights go out (David Vanian and the Phantom Chords - 1990 unreleased CD, good singer but not against Scott) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w_qw9jPDDms After the Lights Go Out (best - studio version with voice reverb) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mS_shRu1Q8w Also very good sound quality - with Specter wall-of-sound effects https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bg6CgrY3VUs First Love Never Dies Tragically imo Scott's dark themed 'serious artist' bent led to a descent into stuff that ended up being the backdrop for horror movies - I kid you not! Yea, she does have a similar sound to her voice. She reminds me of another artist as well, but can't pinpoint her name right now. That's true that there isn't a lot of originality out there, but that's why I like covers so much. It's fun to listen to songs that are ten+ years old with different voices and instrumentation, even. Sometimes, the covers are even better than the originals.
Along with the frolicking dogs and idyllic scenery, single package redundancy is here at last.
