The visual your mesmerised by is very fractal. I'm sure you know that it has similarities to the Hindu Yantra and Buddhist Mandala  (Which if you wanted to get into we'd have to use that other subforum)

I confess to not keeping-up with the complexities that any "just start it up and let it create on its own" algorithmic art would be capable of nowadays. Which is why I'm probably naively impressed by just the still-predictable alchemic patterns that a WMP, etc, throws-up when playing music files.
