LOL. Who knows. Occasionally a newcomer will also revive a thread that's so old that the non-banned OP might be unlikely to still be around or could care less about refreshing memory in regard to the relic topic, if they are. I've even hastily responded to such dinosaur events before noticing the other dates; surprisingly, though, the long-vanished starter of the topic does sometimes return after a week or so.

Yeah, but it wasn’t a newcomer.  It was the administrator and supermod?  That’s just weird. There’s really no coming back after that.  I really liked that moniker.  Godot ist tot.  Cry

But there's still Godot_, Godot1, Godot2, Godot3, etc. I'm surprised that the raw, unadorned "Godot" was still available (i.e., that the spambots hadn't even used it).

I can't help thinking I've missed some important background information here (particularly in the latter part of this conversation), but I have a very quick (and I think not uncommon) response for your original post, SS.
Which is to ask: Would you have as easily deemed the gesture from the middle-aged man as offensive had it come from someone you were attracted to, instead?
This is, by the way, a question every man in the world (well, many of them) already know the answer to.

Other than that - at the root of every social situation known to humanity is the possibility of getting laid. It drives everything.
Men know that for every 99 women who feel offended or nothing at all (random numbers, of course, as opposed to actual statistics), there is one who will go home with you - even if if for no other reason than that its just on the off chance of a free joint and a few shots of rum. I've seen teenagers go off with ugly middle aged men they encounter in the street. Happens all the time.

It's a signal, no different to any other (other than in its crassness). And as long as it works, albeit rarely, it will continue to happen.

Everyone knows that women are not as concerned with appearances as men. Attractive men can be presumptuous and just as creepy. No, it’s not about looks. It’s about age appropriate social awareness.
