I have noted on at least two occassions the definite mood uplift after eating tomato based pasta dishes. At first I thought it might be something in tomatoes. But over time I have realized it has to do with the huge influx of carbs one undergoes from eating pasta. Pasta is carb dynamite. Depressed people should take note. It's not all about losing weight. It's also about staying in a good mood. Don't overdo it. Just make sure you feed your head along with your body.
