That reminded of one I saw about signs of vitamin D deficiency.  I was being plagued by my eye sometimes being stuck closed in the morning.  Then I saw one of the Internet slide shows going through signs of vitamin D deficiency, one slide of which mentioned that insufficient D might involve eye irritation.  Watching to try to get more vitamin D seems to have helped a lot.

A little life hack occurred to me a while back.  An option to help to not brush teeth too often if a person is suseptible to tooth decay and doesn't want to brush too much and wear off enamel is to apply a very small bit of toothpaste to the brush and then brush that along the gum above the front teeth.

I've tried intermittently to do without this or that supplement and compensate via increasing foodstuffs that contain_x_ or its precursor(s), but it just hasn't worked out in regard to some. Not too long ago I once again experimented with specifically dropping vitamin A because of an uptake in carotenoid-rich greens & vegetables (I hate liver). Within days I started having skin problems which didn't cease until I returned to taking 2,500 IU of A daily (I had even still been taking a modest-size amount of beta carotene softgels, to boot). Apparently some of us just lack the ability to convert precursors efficiently or absorb some nutrients & minerals well in their usual amounts as chemically bound in natural sources.

Regarding this article, I have personally discovered how poisonous lima beans can be (when merely microwaved or not cooked sufficiently in the raw). Never touching them again. It's rather astonishing that there's no warning on frozen and dry bags of lima beans (or at least the ones I've encountered).

When I was young I was helping my mother use a device for slicing runner beans for freezing.  we'd grown the beans ourselves and freezing them was the best way to handle overproduction of them, however I decided to eat them as I was slicing.  I'm not going to lie, I did gouge on a lot of the sliced beans and thought nothing of it. 

It wasn't until halfway through the night that I woke up sweating and projectile vomiting day glow green everywhere.  I'd obviously poisoned myself.

I survived that, but for years I couldn't eat runner beans and subconsciously I'm still not particular fond of them.  It's not so much the concern that it might happen again (at least at a conscious level) it's like my pallet is attempting to make sure that I don't fall foul of poisoning myself again.  (It makes it really awkward eating processed things with green beans in as I end up chewing more and contemplating whether I should actually finish eating whatever it is)

I'll want to remember that about raw runner beans since I eat more foods raw these days than I used to.  I've heard a similar food aversion story.  A friend was at a house that had a well that the water was gotten from for drinking.  A toddler, I guess, had thrown watermelon rinds into it and the rotten watermelon in the water made the friend ill.  From that day on, he could no longer stomach any watermelon.

It took several migraine illnesses for me to realize that black beans were a poison in my system.  Lentils had a similar effect.  However, split peas seem to do great. 

I used to cook raw frozen Lima beans in the microwave but since they were mixed with a potato which also was being cooked, and potatoes take quite a bit of heat to get done, that might have helped lessen the toxicity of the lima beans, or maybe I was having some ill effects that I was attributing to something else Idea  Lately I have been eating as many vegs raw as I can to lessen blood sugar spiking to try to keep my diabetes away by slowing carbohydrate absorption since cooking converts starches to sugar. I'll really want to avoid certain or all raw beans I think.

I used to take beta carotene softgels and will want to keep an eye on any signs of a lacking.  I was taking vitamin D in the winter and try to go outside far from peak sun times in the summer.  However, I forgot to restart taking the Vitamin D in the winter when I was inside for extended periods.  Also, I figured I was low on Vitamin B12 when I was getting numbness in my hands.     I try to remember to put a small piece of mega B12 under my tongue for a while.  I am trying to take my daily half centrum pill and half vitamin D with some foods that have fat in them to help absorb fat soluable vitamins. . Now I have begun to take vitamin C for my tendons, ligaments, and cartilage.   It is needed to build those joint things.  That makes sense since those things are connective tissue (callagen), and a classic sign of vitamin C deficiency is poor gum health and subsequent tooth loss.
