Double standard applied to Ann Widdecombe's alleged murderer? (data drip methods)

Heh. Even Wikipedia currently categorizes her killing as a "death" and still does not include the name of the arraigned suspect well after it was finally released in the press.

VIDEO EXCERPT: Why will no one report on Joshua Kerry's political views? Esther, there has been some reporting that he certainly hated Reform. Are there any other reports around relating to any suspected political motive?

So, what we've known from the 12 days of the police basically drip-feeding us material about this case, it is clear that they knew, basically from the time they arrested this man, that he seemed to have hard-left communist leanings.

I think the reason why people are quite curious why it has taken this long is because the political leanings of Joe Cox's murderer were released almost instantly.

Whereas knowledge of this person having allegiances to sort of hard-left political causes is instead slowly drip-fed to the public. It implies that there are different approaches being taken, and they're trying to kind of stave off public anger by lessening the amount of information available in the public. [Concerns or worries which apparently do not apply in the opposite ideological direction.]

And these are the kinds of things that fuel speculation because you can't treat these two cases differently. Of course we understand not prejudicing the case, and this is obviously a live case. So we have to be careful about what we can say about this alleged murderer.

But authorities have to treat these sorts of things the same. There's always talk in the mainstream about the threats of the far right and how the far right is endangering public safety. But we are clearly seeing from the evidence not just here in the UK but in the US as well that the people actually carrying out the vast majority of these political acts of violence are people of the hard left. People with hard left convictions and people who are clearly very mentally unwell.

And the establishment fuels unhelpful public rhetoric when it doesn't treat these cases the same. It didn't need to have taken this long for us to learn the horrific details, especially for people who work in this space who knew Anne Widdecombe.

It is quite strange, the information that we got at the very beginning and how it's still kind of filtered even now almost 2 weeks after the fact.

Yeah, spot on, Esther. Thanks for unpacking that for us...
