TAMPA, Fla. — U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) forces struck three Iranian crude oil carriers, Sept. 5, after the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched ballistic missiles toward two U.S. Navy warships patrolling regional waters.
A U.S. aircraft carrier and guided-missile destroyer successfully evaded multiple unprovoked Iranian attacks. No American personnel were harmed.
Following Iran’s failed attacks, CENTCOM permanently disabled the IRGC crude oil carriers M/T Downy off the coast of Kharg Island and M/T Stark 1 near Jask. American forces also completely destroyed the unladen crude oil carrier M/T Kylo (also known as the “Noxen”) in the Gulf of Oman, striking the vessel in multiple critical locations to render it inoperable after the crew was directed to abandon ship.
The three Iranian crude oil tankers are part of a multibillion-dollar shadow network that funds the IRGC and its regional proxies. Iran has no means by which to defend them.
“Let the message to the IRGC be clear: If you shoot at two of our ships, we will impose an even higher economic cost —taking out three of yours,” said Adm. Brad Cooper, CENTCOM commander. “We will not hesitate to defend American forces, and if necessary, destroy Iran’s limited and exposed oil fleet.”

Erm, ethnic cleansing is not the same as genocide. Bombing into ruins 80-85% of a country's housing and infrastructure (thus rendering it unfit for human habitation) does conform to the definition. And killing tens of thousands of civilians with large percentage of women and children doesn't really improve the picture vis a vis ethnic cleansing. I think there are amply demonstrated facts which explain most nations in the world condemning Israel's actions as war crimes which meet the definition.

You're taking Hamas statistics on civilian deaths as gospel. But of course, you don't find that suspect.
Gaza is not a "country." It is an enclave. One in which terrorists have repeatedly used civilian housing and infrastructure to hide and launch attacks. Attacking aggressors is not ethnic cleansing, by any definition. But you choose to see things one particular way. And then you moan about ad hominem while you direct your own toward an entire country.

Lots of firing back and forth is happening in the Middle East. For its part, the US has sunk five more Iranian oil tankers. And Iran launched one of the largest medium-range ballistic missile attacks of the war against Muwaffaq and Azraq air bases in Jordan, which are hosting US air force aircraft. Video of the attack seems to show cluster warheads, several of which appear to have gotten through the defensive fire and hit the ground. Unclear at this point whether there were any American or Jordanian casualties.
And Iran's IRGC are boasting that they have captured an American unmanned undersea drone in the Strait of Hormuz. It appears that it suffered a mechanical problem and was drifting dead in the water when an Iranian small boat encountered it, since Iran no longer has any undersea warfare capabilities.
This is a Dive-LD drone, manufactured by Anduril, the major autonomous systems manufacturer. The US Navy began buying these in 2024 and Unmanned Undersea Vehicle Squadron 1 (UUVRON-1) was formed in 2025.
Palmer Luckey, founder of Anduril, says that these are designed to be attritable and don't contain classified technology that we wouldn't want falling into enemy hands. Luckey says:
"Everyone watching Iran's state-run TV news program probably noticed they picked up an Anduril Dive-LD, our mass-produced attritable submarine.
This particular vehicle has been swimming in CENTCOM for months, successfully operating in support of American forces for thousands of hours. It was explicitly designed to operate in environments too dangerous for humans where capture is an expected possibility. I can't get into the details, but it provided significant value for months before capture.

Interesting OSINT (open-source intelligence) observation that may, or may not, be associated with upcoming events in the Iran war.
Emergency Action Messages are encrypted high-priority messages sent from the American military command out to US forces around the world. They go out a number of times a year and are (almost?) always tests and exercises.
What caught the attention of the OSINT watchers is that today's was a 17-character message. These are the shortest ever detected and there have only been six or seven of them. The first 17-character message ever detected was on March 21st, 2026. This coincided with an attack on Iran's Natanz nuclear enrichment site and Iran's less-than-successful retaliatory missile attack on Israel's Dimona nuclear site. Another was on June 6, which coincided with Iranian missile strikes on several US radars and attacks on Kuwait and Bahrain. Then another on July 11 which coincided with closure of the Strait of Hormuz and increased US air strikes. The other 17 character EAMs don't appear to be as closely associated with Iran events.
Given that the US sends out EAM's to test the system and as part of exercises, today's EAM might have nothing to do with Iran. The fact that it was a 17 character EAM might mean nothing more than that they have adopted a new format.
It's interesting to watch though.
And in other news today that may or may not be related, the US embassies in the following countries are warning Americans to prepare for possible flight cancellations, airspace closures and other travel disruptions. Unclear what, if anything, it means. But it's additional data-points suggesting (speculatively) that something might be brewing.
