The US continued bombing Iran tonight, hitting multiple targets mostly along the coast and in the west of the country. Reports from the city of Tabriz in northwestern Iran of loud thud sounds. Apparently the Americans are continuing to attack missile launchers that were moved back away from the coast in hopes they would be out of range of shorter range American weaponry.

The sound of jet engines was heard in the air over other cities in the interior of Iran, even when no air strikes were reported there. Anti-aircraft was active over the capital of Tehran, but no air strikes were reported in that city. There may have been some strikes outside the city.

And a conventional electricity generating plant in Bushehr province as struck which led to a two hour blackout in that province before Iranian grid operators could bring in electricity from elsewhere and stabilize the grid.

There's video confirmation that the US hit the Bidboland Gas Refinery in Mahshahr, Khuzestan Province. This is Iran's largest natural gas facility and one of the largest in the Persian Gulf region.

Reportedly American B-1 bombers (the Air Force calls them "bones") are back in action for the first time since the start of the ill-fated "ceasefire". I understand that they are flying out of RAF Fairford in England and that the new British PM has approved it.

The idea is that even if the deepest uranium enrichment centrifuge galleries survive, we can still collapse entrance tunnels and destroy ventilation shafts and electrical supply. Then satellites and human agents can keep watch and new air strikes called in whenever the Iranians move in heavy equipment and undertake the major project of trying to dig the facility out. Use of nuclear weapons is probably out of the question and a US ground operation would be too dangerous and impractical.

Two EA-37B Compass Call II aircraft from Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Arizona are inbound to the Centcom AOR. These new aircraft are designed to basically shut down the electromagnetic spectrum in large areas: radar, radio etc. There are unconfirmed reports that a third one from a different base is also expected in the Centcom area of responsibility.

The British have evacuated their embassy in Iran.

Interesting British aircraft movements. Currently operating out of RAF Akrotiri on Cyprus are 3 Airbus KC.2 aerial refueling aircraft, 2 C-17 large jet transports, and 2 Airbus Atlas C.1 large turboprop transports. That's more refueling and transport aircraft than we typically see there. There's also a civilian Boeing 737 that belongs to BAe Systems, the large British defense contractor. Some of these planes may or may not be involved with evacuating the British embassy staff from Tehran.
