Non-existent (possible people) don’t miss out on anything. They’re not unlucky. So comparing your life to an infinite set of hypothetical lives that never happen is stupid.

Many people who could have actually existed were never allowed the chance to be born.

No it isn't. Between existing and not existing, existence is always the better the option. Unless you're taking the nihilist position that existing is of no more value than not existing. Now THAT would be stupid.

If someone needs that sort of mental gymnastics to feel lucky.... might need to work on cultivating more gratitude in life, for little, more concrete things.

It's just a simple fact that can be inspiring under any circumstances. Why would anyone find fault with that? Having thoughts of suicide lately?

That's a silly conclusion to someone saying you shouldn't need to go to such lengths to appreciate your life. You might have to go to such lengths if you were suicidal though.
Projecting?

LOL As if any appreciating of one's life could be a bad thing. Methinks the whiner doth complain too much as usual. One wouldn't want the heinous vice of having a scientifically-backed positive outlook free reign here.

Really? More projecting? And with a strawman to boot. 9_9
Couldn't think of any immediate things in life you appreciate, huh? That's so sad.

There's nothing more immediate in your life to appreciate than being alive itself. You should try it some time. Might improve your shitty disposition.

An abstraction from some astronomical hypothetical isn't actually immediate to your life. The immediate are things you do or interact with daily.
Really couldn't come up with any of those, huh? Not even the whole pizza and diet Coke?
