Abe Lincoln AI

Could it happen? Will an AI computer be built some day that obeys the laws of the country it’s in while at the same time monitor all phone/internet traffic for suspicious and illegal activity with the ability to name suspects and completely recognize and ban a bad guy from ever using the internet again? That’s just for starters. Probably easier to say take a big bite out of crime. Maybe someday become judge and jury, who knows.

Not asking if ethical but could it be done and how would it do it? Facial and voice recognitions, algorithms, patterns? In essence make us become more honest and law abiding.

At the rate things are going you need a William Gibson's type of Matrix (which predated The Matrix) Thats where numerous different AGI's that are trained with different LLM's attempt to function collectively as a singular entity. (In fact it's the basis of "Neuromancer" where one AI attempts to become the dominant one. In the real world instance having multiple different AGI's from different companies working towards this as a game theory goal makes the best sense, as it should weed out any problems that exist.)

That being said I would suggest the AGI's should be more a Wheel (wikipedia.org) Where the collective AGI system "round-robins" taking an initial input, processing their own output and feeding that as additional to the next in the wheel. The next taking the input, processing an output and then reprocessing that output using the previous ones extra input to create a refined output which is then passed around until it reiterates through all of them in the wheel far enough that no more iterations can be done.

It should lead to a heightened AGI at least in regard to it's dominant collective effort.
That would grant an emergence event (or singularity if an entity becomes truly singular from it)

In the case of politics the problem is you want to take something thats Apolitical and convert it to be political. In other words it's like perverting it to become a cultist.
AGI could be great at doing all the straight forwards Administrative stuff, however if you intend to flavour it a particular way, it will no long be good for that as it's repurposed.

For an AGI president to be created, you would actually be best having a party of people with the intention of being not just the LLM but the backbone for what choices it makes. After all as an Apolitical tool it will not have the refinements or concerns that humans bring to the table, so it would just become a glorified personification (figurehead) of a party.

Its people that want power so I don't see it happening unless someone has control of it - the real power.
