If you didn't understand the deceptive editing shown in the OP video, I doubt you're capable of understanding.

Honesty and journalistic ethics don't have anything to do with the law and don't change country to country.

Surprising to see any accountability, but:

In a separate statement, Turness says "the buck stops with me". She admits mistakes were made, but says allegations of institutional bias are "wrong"

I guess we'll see if the institutional bias improves at all. Might just be from threats of litigation in this case.

Meh...everybody knows and saw how Trump egged on the rioters to attack the capitol by lying that the election was rigged. He even watched it on TV as it happened. It's a matter of recorded history.

If events had panned out differently and the rioters had taken control of the Whitehouse my opinion is that Trump would happily have settled in as the rightful holder of the presidential office. Quite how and by whom the rioters were organised is already lost in the mist of time. BUT. American culture gives a high priority to freedom of speech - when push comes to shove there's no option for 'opinions' (like mine) and 'reading between the lines'. The defence "He did not actually say.." is good and we (in the UK) should respect that.

I'm pleased to see two highly paid employees have resigned - personally I'd like a refund of the amount paid for not doing their job - or some admission that the job isn't what the BBC pretends it it is.

Resignation letter from BBC director general Tim Davie..
Quote:Dear all
I wanted to let you know that I have decided to leave the BBC after 20 years. This is entirely my decision, ..
He doesn't say he's a complete asshole - so Americans will know that he isn't.

The words said are actually Trumps words. although they are concatenated. (Perhaps they should of flagged it was concatenated).

If they had made him say "I D... Trump am a great big fraud etc", then he could consider that being defamation (although not everyone would agree).

If Trump didn't meander while publicly speaking and kept to the bullet points of the content, the press wouldn't edit out bits. (How many other outlets edit out his meanders?)

Further to that, as a kind of counter point, how many feeds on Truthsocial are likely Defamative which Trump openly allows?

All in all it's a lot of noise over nothing.

They edited out 50 minutes of the speech and made it seem completely seamless. That's unethical journalism, as it doesn't give an accurate representation.
