Constant speed motion is also known as uniform motion. We all have a basic intuitive sense of whether something is speeding up or slowing down. To develop this intuitive sense further, we can analyse an object moving in a straight line. 

Motion diagrams are an indispensible tool in aiding us in understanding motion. For an object in uniform motion, the successive frames of the motion diagram are equally spaced apart. This is indicative of uniform motion.

When quatifying motion, we may consider the subtle distinction between speed versus velocity. Velocity indicates both direction and magnitude. Whereas speed only indicates magnitude of how fast something is travel. Not its direction of travel.

Motion can be represented by a motion diagram. Although these motion diagrams are simple, they will turn out to be powerful tools for analysing motion.

Each successive frame of the motion diagram indicates whether the object is speeding up or slowing down.

An easy way to illustrate motion is to use a stationary camera. A typical camera takes images at a fixed rate. Typically 30 frames per second.

There are four basic types of motion which we will study in the text (according to my text). One of which is projectile motion.
