Good episode tonight. We get to see in more detail what happened on that space ship with all those deadly critters on board. No spoilers!

Morrow already revealed in an earlier episode that it was sabotage, so episode five didn't divulge anything really new. Other than that the saboteur was seduced by the boy genius.

And all monster or horror flicks require idiots who make bad decisions and execute poor containment protocol (that formula never changes). So we also knew that would be the case with the crew. Amir Boutrous's character even stated something early on about idiots bringing parasites home without proper procedure, just to make it official.

I guess the "eye creature" (Species 64) really is turning out to be the star of the show. (The leech creatures are kind of boring.) Who knows what its agenda ultimately is, since it didn't kill Zaveri when it initially had the chance. But OTOH, it already had the engineer as a host.

Saw Prometheus again last night. Really impressed with its effects and plot and profound ideas. It technically is only part of the Alien mythology due to its last scene. (no spoilers). But I'm still left wondering about parts of it. It gives you alot to think about.

The sequel, Alien: Convenant, fills in the origins of the xenomorph further. But, from what I understand, Alien: Earth is focusing purely on the original movie and ignoring all that later 21st-century film material to pursue its own genesis theory (if it ever gets into that). It may even be setting the other 80s and 90s follow-ups aside, too, although that seems completely irrelevant to the show due to it being confined to the time before 1979 Alien. Barring those other Sigourney Weaver flicks ever exploring details about the xenomorph's background, which I don't recall them significantly doing.

Just watched Alien Covenant and got all my loose ends tied up. I knew Walter was actually David all along. They sure held us in suspense of that for awhile though. Now all I need to see is Alien Romulus, assuming this will continue the journey of the colony ship to a new planet with David lurking about.

Romulus has nothing to do with Prometheus or Covenant.
Personally, I thought Romulus took a shit on Alien movie lore.

"The xenomorph isn't really evil. It's just another victim."

Yep. I anticipated that back in #20.

But I did like in episode seven how somebody did finally emerge as the smartest "person" in the room: Timothy Oliphant's character Kirsch. It helped balance out all the idiots that a monster show of this "escape-based" category essentially requires.

The reason the hybrids had to have the minds of kids was to provide an explanation for their idiocy. But that doesn't excuse the idiocy of actual adults like Dame Syliva's husband bumbling around in Slightly's setup and getting himself face-hugged. And the crew of the Maginot, especially.

In the original "Alien", the crew arguably had a little less idea of what they were dealing with. Whereas the crew of the Maginot knew they had dangerous creatures on board. Sloppy protocol was transpiring before the sabotage. Even that they placed some of the containers on high shelves was insane, literally enabling them to fall.
