On Wednesday, Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Danon, accused the UN of a “brutal … Mafia-like” response to U.S.-backed non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that wanted to help in the humanitarian effort to provide aid to Gaza.

Danon accused the UN of removing the NGOs of the U.S.-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) from the shared aid database.

“Not only did the UN refuse to condemn Hamas for its efforts to sabotage the new aid senders — we have seen the pictures of Hamas blocking people — but the UN is now actively joining Hamas in trying to block that aid,” Danon noted. “The UN is using threats, intimidation, and retaliation against NGOs that choose to participate in the new humanitarian mechanism.”

"This new scheme is surveillance-based rationing that legitimizes a policy of deprivation by design," senior U.N. aid official for the occupied Palestinian territories, Jonathan Whittall, told reporters in Jerusalem on Wednesday.

"The U.N. has refused to participate in this scheme, warning that it is logistically unworkable and violates humanitarian principles by using aid as a tool in Israel's broader efforts to depopulate areas of Gaza," he said.

So what the UN seems to be saying is that the GHF is a part of Israel's war effort NOT a humanitarian outfit as claimed. In fairness it may be a 'kinder' strategy to move people around by strategic feeding/starving rather than by shooting them - but let's at least be honest about it.

Head of controversial Israel-backed Gaza aid group resigns

The head of an organisation set up to distribute aid in Gaza as part of a controversial Israel-backed plan has resigned, saying it could not work in a way that adhered to "humanitarian principles".

Jake Wood quit the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) late on Sunday, saying it would not be able to fulfil the principles of "humanity, neutrality, impartiality, and independence".
