Here's a short (4 minute) totally-AI science fiction video, made by one woman using a normal computer and all the Grok Imagine tools. (It could probably have been done with other AI's as well.)

Despite only being 4 minutes long, it has multiple scenes: the female protagonist's spaceship crashing, her walking across sand dunes, her finding what she initially thinks is an abandoned habitation of some kind where she meets a man who apparently lives there, the alien town he takes her to, what she sees on the street - violence among a whole assortment of humans and aliens (some humanoid, some not) and then the alien (woman?) that gives her a job. Final scene is inside a spaceship in space containing apparent villains that were tracking her for some reason. That last creates a cliff-hanger for a second episode.

Dialogue and continuity are good. Creativity and realism of the scenes is good, if a bit Star-Wars derived.

The thing is, if just one woman can produce 4 minutes of this all by herself on her home computer, those with more resources could link 30 of these together and produce a full length feature film. And do it for a small fraction of what it would cost with human actors and sets, and conventional CGI.

Can't say that I'm sad to see it coming. From the filmmaker's perspective a terrible thing, from the audience perspective, probably a positive thing.

History will surely look back on Kavan Cardoza as one of the primary groundbreakers of AI filmmaking. Of course, there are others, but right now I can't even assimilate all the stuff breaking loose in this arena.

"I'd always wanted to make films, always had so many ideas. I'm using this machine, but I'm still the author behind the work because I'm telling the machine. The lighting, the camera, the clothing, all of those finite details are coming from my brain. But in order for the machine to work, it needs data to be trained on. That's the only way this thing even works. That to me it's no different than if I am an artist, a filmmaker, anything."
