It's not getting old that's so bad. It's the realization of not fitting in anymore. It's belonging to a time and a world that every year ceases to exist less and less. All the actors and singers and writers and friends you lived your whole life knowing and loving all becoming has-beens. And you, just sitting at a bus stop waiting for your chance to get the hell outta dodge.
AI is a logical extension of the cancerous simulacrous growth of techno-capitalism itself----which is impelled by the assumption that the production of more and more is always unquestionably better with no regard for need or applicability. As if we really needed MORE intelligence to get us out of the snarl our own hyper-rationality has gotten us into.
Creative souls are not underachievers. They just have ambitions of a far more otherworldly kind.
The evolution of certainty
It was only ever necessary for evolution to relieve the stress of being confused for us by creating the FEELING of knowing something. That way we could stop thinking about it and calm down and resume our normal everyday survival. Hence language and the false sense of certainty that is conjured up when we attach a name or label to something. Identifying the unknown with THIS particular utterance or glyph or image that we can manipulate and hold onto. A kind of "sympathetic magic" of representation. A sedating illusion of being in control of what is not really controlled at all.
Seek out the tension of the in-between, where all opposite absolutes and concepts and abstractions dissolve into the energetic dialectic happening between them. The illusion of discursive knowledge evaporates into the immersive process of conjunction/disjunction. Dark and light becoming darkening and brightening. Good and evil becoming intentional choosing. Reality and illusion becoming realization and self-deception. No state is a given. We continuously enact them thru the push and pull of lived experience.
Darkology Rule #1
The amount of darkness banished by a brightening light is exactly proportional to the degree of darkening of its shadows.
Part of Kant's genius lies in his insight that space and time are not physical parts of reality--as if outside us and "in themselves" so to speak--but are modes of representing the real to ourselves that are hardwired into our minds. It is a pure ideationally-generated aspect of our being-in-the-world, like the spaces and terrain of a video game is to the character navigating within it. Think the holodeck on the USS Enterprise, only ever projecting a horizon-bound movie of being somewhere different all time that is precisely synced to our own bodily movements. It is the essential therelessness of space and time--as pure abstractions--that enable reality to become experienced in terms of presences and proximities.

Listening is much deeper than just hearing. We listen to the pauses as well as to the sounds. The silences are as pregnant as the utterances. We listen to what is not being said along with what is being said. We listen to the speaker despite hearing what they are saying.
