We are only ever remembering our own subjective conceptualized interpretation of the world, not the objective world itself. An interpretation that remains stable not because it is true or an accurate representation of reality but because it works in enabling us to live and survive. It is the phenomenal qualia of our conscious that don't change, not reality itself. Just as a bat or a bee's inner interpretation remains stable. We are thus living in a hallucinated 3D map of reality, and not reality itself. We are neither conscious subjects of the world, nor real objective beings. We are what navigates and moves and maps itself onto reality from inside its own private map. We are agents--pure intentional energy-- not physical bodies OR conscious subjects.
Love and hate are both feeling states and actions. We experience love and love. We experience hate and hate. They are the felt self-awaring transjective actions of loving and hating. Pain and pleasure are also states as well as an action. We are in pain because something hurts. We experience pleasure because we enjoy something.
Just remember learning is a subjective experience/activity. It doesn't happen the same way for everyone. What is useful information for one is trivia for another. What was once something you needed to learn over time can become totally superflous. So knowledge itself is not objective and static like a bunch of objective facts or truths that get stored inside our brains. Knowledge is what is learnable, and it is only out of the subjective enactment of learning that it exists at all.
I believe in and trust science not scientism. In science as one of many ways to know reality. I trust scientists when they talk about science like I trust historians when they talk about history, mathematicians when they talk about math, ufologists when they talk about UFOs, and philosophers when they talk about philosophy. It's their field study after all, saying more about their knowledge and expertise than about the field itself.
The very notion of the objective thing, be it a physical object or a concept or a person or a word or a property or an image or an event, shuts off any hope for any epistemic contact with the real. Because once the phenomenal self-showing presencing of the thing is reduced to a non-phenomenal in-itself discrete morpheme, nothing further is accessible from it. The thing becomes a placeholder for an epistemic limit, a noumenal in-itself needing no further explication. Knowabiliity goes out the window, exchanged for a shallow identifiability or predicatability as just such and such and nothing more which is called explanation. In fact it is really a pure datum of subjective experience itself, swirling together out of the welter of feelings and associations and contexts and shifting perspectives all making it what it really is and so open to knowability and increased self-awareness.
The illusory certainty belief grants us is a poor substitute for the curiosity and learning of ongoing understanding. Nobody wants to sit in a bubble of self-confirming assumptions and truths all their lives. By rather staying open to a constantly morphing and changing reality we become swept up into the real itself, freed from the confines of a self-containing and static worldview.
The possibilized object--neither the beloved possession nor the value-neutral object of physicalism. Like that new car you keep passing ever day sitting in the dealer's lot. Or that special dress you saw in the store window. Objects invested with pre-conceptualized meaning and imaginings and feelings. Always the shopped for and pursued prize. Instantiated as the purpose-giving and empowering symbol for new and different experiences.
They need to start a Paypal site for attention. For paying attention when you have none left to pay. The internet regularly drains us with its carnival barking and cheesy vaudeville acts just to get noticed and clicked on.
I think we are all tired and fed up with this exhausting cognitive dissonance of being a meaning-feeling experient in a world of meaningless things. A lot of mental illness and suffering probably comes out of this. We feel trapped between the two unbearable options of believing we are an alienated ghost in a world of stuff and just another automaton in a world of machines. All hope for escape lies in the poetic experience of speaking and writing and epiphanous observing on a daily basis. No longer living the split, we will find ourselves opened up to what is real and necessary again.
When does a thought quit being a totally private and subjectively phenomenal state of mind?
When it's spoken? When it's written? When it's proven true? When it gets objectified by our own mind as a "thing" existing outside of its being thought? Isn't that precisely the very opposite of being a thought? Isn't the very thought of a thought as a discrete thing-in-itself that can be replicated and shared with other minds the very denial of its essential mode of being immediately thought and present only in my own mind? All thoughts are private first-person ideational beingnesses of the subject.
Theism and Scientism basically two sides of the same coin---the attempt to reduce and reify reality/consciousness into either an objective being called a God who designed it and controls it all, or as the subjective being of absolute truth as knowing how reality/consciousness happens. The ambitious idealizations of reality/consciousness as two static ontic states, one absolutely "real" in itself as a person and the other as absolutely "true" in itself as the laws of the universe.
There's no such thing as an objective state. As if that state could somehow even exist apart and independently from being in that state. As if a state could even be knowable from the outside without being the subjective isness of being in that state. You feel the ice not because it is cold in itself but because your hand is cooled. Coldness by no means inheres in physical objects as an objective state because it is entirely a qualia of own subjective sensations.
The idea of physicality is the fiction of an ontic state of being self-predicatable and inseparably identical with oneself. Essentially a meaningless state of being stripped of any relations or context or temporal change. A semantic static abstraction with no possibility of being knowable just definable. It's the delusion of something only being what it is and nothing more. Given, arbitrary, and inherently unexplainable. The conceptual inversion of the apodictic phenomenality of qualia in consciousness.
We don't really travel in the world. We carry our here and now around with us, which doesn't move in itself but rather enables the illusion of leaving and arriving at once only ever projected and retrojected as objective already-existing theres in the world.
On the long term effect of being a bodiless and invisible texter in a non-physical hyperspace..
One would think this would start to manifest in our daily lives. That we so easily slip into and out of being this mere mental agent of informational organizing. Speaking thru texting already an amputation of the expressiveness of words--of their embodied feltness-- resulting in the mere unspoken and visual freeze-framing of words as statements. Why not the total disappearance of all personhood itself, resulting in the habitual lunge towards being objectively right and absolutely factual. Of somehow semantically reconstructing abstractly our concurrently displaced identified-with physicality. A mere non-local agent no longer bound by its subjective relativity and seeming to itself and others as an atemporal oracular proclamation of objective truths.
You can either hold onto the same concept and change the objects and events you perceive thru it or you can hold onto one object and change the concepts that you conceive it thru. One is called extrospection and the other is called introspection. Either approach will get you to the truth.
We carry our here's around with us wherever we go. Like the shell on a turtle's back. Our here never moves and only changes in time around us..Like how the screen itself never changes while the movie changes scenes. Why can we never escape this one absolute location? And do any of us really ever arrive at our own imagined elsewheres?
“You can't get away from yourself by moving from one place to another.”
— The Sun Also Rises (1926)
We cannot observe the very act of observing. To do so would be trapping ourselves in a closed loop of infinite iterations of being self-conscious. A delusional solipsistic state. And being conscious of consciousness as if something real and purely objective only results in us lacking any consciousness anymore. Like a mirrored reflection of ourselves only objectifies us as a non-observing body as if existing without being observed. The only way we intuitively grasp the sameness of our reflection and our viewing of it is by moving and seeing firsthand how the reflection moves simultaneously. The splitting apart of the viewer and viewed is resolved thru deliberate action and interaction. The feel of moving and being moved. Consciousness thus can only be understood actively and tacitly, enacting its very activity of objectifying and subjectifying at once. More like Zen than like Science. Only he who can dance in front of the mirror understandingly grasps the true nature of being conscious.
