Nothing wrong with one political party -- that has a socialist historical legacy -- giving a "second chance" to a still actively socialist party that exclusively dominates a particular Asian country. And a UK DPM who identifies as socialist making the final decision.

China's 'spy base' London embassy 'threatens vital communication cables'
https://inews.co.uk/news/politics/china-...TO=newsnow
EXCERPTS: China’s plan for a new “super” embassy in central London is causing alarm among Britain’s intelligence services because of the site’s proximity to a sensitive hub of critical communication cables which could be susceptible to attack.
It is understood there are security concerns that the location for the huge proposed diplomatic complex could allow Chinese agents an opportunity to access key fibre-optic cables vital to Britain’s internet network and the City’s sensitive communication lines.
A report assessing China’s threat to the UK, compiled by multiple British intelligence agencies in 2019, specifically cited the cables running in the vicinity of the proposed embassy site, according to two sources with direct knowledge of the report.
Publicly available mapping data shows the proposed site sits close to three major data centres, adding to concerns.
The proposals for the new Chinese embassy had been previously rejected, but after Labour’s election victory, Keir Starmer called the plans in for review following personal lobbying from China’s President Xi. The decision to grant permission is now in the hands of Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner, who as Housing Secretary is awaiting a report from the Planning Inspectorate.
[...] Martijn Rasser, an ex-CIA officer, and Craig Singleton, a former US diplomat, warned in December that Donald Trump’s incoming administration might have reservations about sharing intelligence with the UK if the embassy is allowed to open...
[...] A spokesperson for the Chinese embassy said: “With the consent of the UK Government, the Chinese government purchased the related property a few years ago. Host countries have the international obligation to support and facilitate the building of the premises of diplomatic missions. Both China and the UK have the need to build a new embassy in each other’s capital, and the two sides should provide facilitation to each other.
“The Chinese Embassy in the UK is committed to promoting the friendship between the Chinese and British people and the development of bilateral relations between the two countries. Building the new embassy at an early date would help us better perform such responsibilities.” (MORE - details)
