EXCERPT: The US space agency has released a series of sharp Pluto snapshots, billing them as the best close-ups of the dwarf planet we may see for decades. In grade school I took out a library book about the planets.   I still remember those artists' conceptions that tended to induce feelings of wanting to curl up beside a fire.  The one of Pluto was my favorite.
