Going thru the list of the best indie films of the 2000's. Just saw this one. A wonderful film, will have you crying, laughing, and rejoicing. Warning: full frontal shot of Vigo may surprise you! lol Wonder if he got paid extra for it.

Another 2016'er to watch over the weekend.

Reading no further than the first sentence of the plot, it sounds superficially akin to or in the same general category as The Mosquito Coast (but in TMC the kids initially grew up within North American society). And, of course, the real reclusive departure of the Lykov family. Watching the trailer, though, I guess they have more interaction with the outside world.

Hah. I saw The Mosquito Coast ages ago and forgot that even River Phoenix was in it. Always think of just Harrison Ford, Helen Mirren, and (strangely) Martha Plimpton. (I guess I remember the latter because she starred in the The Beans of Egypt, Maine, and was the glasses-wearing tomboy in "The Goonies".)

Erin Moriarty of "The Boys" happens to be in that. We recently started watching the first three seasons (one episode a day -- and might or might not catch up with the as yet unconcluded 4th season eventually). Anyone who hates superhero movies and shows might delight in cynical TB. When out of sight of the public eye, superheroes are portrayed pretty much as they would be in real life, if they existed. Spoiled like some sports athletes slash other celebrities, corrupt as politicians, and as cruel as the fake gods in Who Mourns for Adonis?.
