How things are going of late for the 'West'

And here's a sobering and very well argued expose of why the end message 'be strong - maintain the faith - 'we' are winning' in above linked is sadly too optimistic:

Even though the narrator tries to end on that same optimistic note, imo the overall picture realistically precludes any such optimism.

Looking at one of the comments from the video feed.

@grandmastersreaction1267 on Youtube.com Wrote:In the US, firearm ownership functions as a pacifier.

I laughed as I realised the "double entendre" if it's read as:
Quote:Gun ownership is a pacifier.

On the one hand it could pacify an assailant and supress violence meant against you, on the other hand you could be happy just sticking it in your mouth.

(although to be honest that could of been a butt plug, for "Plugging peoples asses"?!?!)

Sure it's the opposite to 'pacifier' in the dummy-in-the-mouth' sense if one is focused on small arms gun violence stats in the US.
But of course the intent in that vid was in reference to 'oath-keeper' types.
Thinking owning and being proficient in the use of assault rifles could somehow magically become a realistic means of IAT - Insurance Against (government)Tyranny. NO.

This is just naive thinking about tyranny and the actual abilities of the US military.
1. The US military can only operate in the US at the behest of a state governor. Violating the Constitution this way would first cause the governors to active their National Guard, on top of calling citizens into militia duty.
2. The US military is composed of US citizens. US citizens carpet bombing their own civilians (a war crime) is not likely.
3. Even in the most modern US wars and military actions, it was a bit of a slog, often requiring door-to-door urban warfare, problems with guerilla tactics, etc.. In the current Ukraine war, Russia should be steamrolling their defenses. Instead, the inch by inch advances and losses are making it difficult, even not against their own countrymen. Part of the reason is that aggressors don't want to face the full wrath of the entire international community by committing obvious war crimes... like carpet bombing civilians. They also usually want to maintain most of the conquered existing infrastructure, requiring a little restraint.

But naive people somehow imagine the US would or could commit war crimes by just dropping bombs and using fighter jets against civilians without any response from any other countries... who rely on the US for their own security as well. Dumb people just look at the raw numbers and capabilities of arms without ever thinking about how it would necessarily play out in reality. Sure, if your really think the US would resort to nukes on its own soil, you might have a point. A deluded and paranoid point, but a point nonetheless.
