Ted Cruz: ‘Climate Change Is Not Science. It’s Religion.’

EXCERPT: . . . Sen. Ted Cruz [...] thinks that climate change — a phenomenon widely accepted by the scientists who study it — is a religious belief. “Climate change is not science. It’s religion,” Cruz told Glenn Beck on Thursday.

To back up his claim, Cruz pointed to the way we talk about climate change. “Look at the language, where they call you a denier,” he said. “Denier is not the language of science … Any good scientist is a skeptic; if he’s not, he or she should not be a scientist. But yet the language of the global warming alarmists, ‘denier’ is the language of religion, it’s heretic, you are a blasphemer.”

In fact, how we refer to self-proclaimed “climate skeptics” is not without debate. [...] Not everyone agrees with the AP — or with Cruz...

Fairly symptomatic of sensationalist journalism, I would think.
As in, is it possible these days to get anywhere without an extreme emotional bent?

Just think Youtube's "Most bestest ever..." video titles and extrapolate from there.
It's insidious.
Unfortunately, it also allows (invites) the accusation of extremism by way of reply.

We live in sad times, folks.

I agree with Cruz 100% about that and have made the same point repeatedly.

Global warming belief may or may not have a basis in objective science, I'm just a layman and have no way of judging that. But the whole subject has become so politicized, has become attached to such a huge social-change agenda, and is so intolerant of anyone who disagrees, that my initial reaction to most global warming rhetoric is a-priori skeptical. I react to global warming rhetoric in much the same way that I do intelligent design ("ID") rhetoric.
