Meet the Centennial Light, the world's longest burning light bulb. It was switched on in 1901 and it's still going today in 2023, 122 years later!
It was originally a 30 watt bulb (or 60 watt, nobody is sure) and today is about 4 watts worth, like a nightlight.
It's in Livermore California and is cared for by the Centennial Light Bulb Committee, a partnership of the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department, Livermore Heritage Guild, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratories, and Sandia National Laboratories.
It’s like a Twilight Zone prop, when it finally blinks out, the world isn’t quite the same. Time actually stops or all the humans on Earth turn into skunk cabbage and a couple of ET maintenance guys show up to change the bulb.
