On tulpas

"Tulpa is a concept in Theosophy, mysticism, and the paranormal, of a materialized being or thought-form, typically in human form that is created through spiritual practice and intense concentration."

"Explorer and Orientalist Alexandra David-Neel decided to conjure the tulpa of "a fat little monk." After months of directed meditation, it materialized, not only to her, but to other residents of her camp. After a while, the tulpa graduated from her control. It slimmed down and took on a decidedly sinister aspect. At that point, David-Neel decided to pull the plug on her tulpa, and with the help of some Buddhist monks of her acquaintance, re-absorbed his energy."

I have what may be called 3 auditory tulpas. In psychiatric parlance they are known as "voices". The thing is they are half dependent and half independent. They are only sentient of what I am thinking about, often scolding me for thinking too much. They also express their own intentions and desires to me. They are my little buddha-masters in a way. They also provide me a social outlet for affection and amusement when real people aren't around.

Tulpamancers: Influenced by depictions in television and cinema from the 1990s and 2000s, the term tulpa started to be used to refer to a type of willed imaginary friend. Practitioners consider tulpas to be sentient and relatively autonomous. Online communities dedicated to tulpas spawned on the 4chan and Reddit websites. These communities refer to tulpa practitioners as "tulpamancers".
